3 of April – Day 1

In Monday, all Young Reporters for the Environment, both Portuguese and foreigners, met up in Lisbon before they left to Góis.

When we arrived, we briefly saw the village and we all liked it because Góis is a beautiful and quite place surrounded by nature.  What´s more, the local people seem very friendly, generous and hospitable.

Before and after dinner we all did the ice-breaking session when we had the chance to meet each other and learn interesting things about their lifestyle. 

In the evening, we had a night tour through Góis with our tour guide and we learned about the history of the village, architecture and also some important characters of Góis’ history.

4 of April – Day 2

In our second day in Góis we visited a hamlet called Loural, a place where anyone can live in harmony with nature. We really liked Loural because the only permanent inhabitant of the village organizes many activities to attract people (yoga etc.)

After that, we interviewed the vice president of Góis and we were informed about the economical and environmental issues of the village.Late in the evening, we worked in our groups to write our article and also edit our photos. Although it was a creative activity we got anxious and a bit stressed because we had to finish our work in a limited time.

The day ended up with a concert of traditional Portuguese music called Fado which for the foreigners was a new musical experience.

5 of April – Day 3

In Wednesday, we firstly visited the Trout nursery where Mr. Humberto showed us his job and also his place. There, we learned a lot about Rainbow Trout and Portuguese fish called Fário and how these fish are treated.

We also visited Peneda inland beach, a blue flagged beach. We really liked it because of the natural and picturesque view.  We also took a lot of selfies there.

At the afternoon, we visited Quinta dos Maias, a place with a very rich flora and an interesting Fauna. There we can find both native species such as Folhado but also some non-native species that were placed there for ornamental purposes. It is also a unique project due to the fact that they aim to provide better didactic opportunities for handicapped people.  Next we had the chance to meet José Cerdeira, a traditional cork masks handcrafter. Such job is very important in the conservation of our customs, so, at the same time we also had an opportunity to communicate with the past.

We finished our day interviewing a member of Góis Moto Clube, a very important organization here, not only due to their always rising popularity but also because of their environmental choices that regard the natural resources.

6 of April – Day 4

The day started with our visit at the Eco-Museum of Schist Traditions. We got informed about a variety of native animals’ species and also for local plants of Aigra Nova village where the museum is located. There, we got educated about its history, traditional machines and we had the opportunity to buy some local hand-made products.

After lunch at the school residence, where we had a traditional Portuguese plate (Bacalhau à Brás), we visited the Moto Club and we interviewed the national champion Diogo Ventura.
Then we went in a small village named Povorais, which has only two inhabitants, and it´s mostly known by its Icnofossils.

4 de Abril

No dia quatro de abril de dois mil e dezassete, o grupo Jovens Repórteres do Ambiente, começou a sua missão fazendo uma visita guiada à Vila de Góis, com uma das técnicas da Câmara Municipal de Góis, Vanessa Serra.

Entrevistámos uma das habitantes da vila, de nacionalidade alemã e de nome Latiffa. Posto isto, esta demonstrou-se disponível e confortável para nos falar um pouco do seu dia-a-dia e principalmente o porquê de se ter instalado em Góis, e não em outro sítio pacato.

No decorrer do nosso passeio atravessámos a Ponte Real, a mais principal de Góis, cujo responsável pela sua construção permanece ainda num mistério.

Ao percorrermos o Parque do Cerejal, deparámo-nos com alguns tipos de árvores centenárias, como por exemplo a Nogueira Preta, o Plátano, a Cerejeira e a Oliveira.

Terminado o passeio junto à beira do rio, encontrámos um pequeno mercado ao ar livre. O grupo do JRA abordou e entrevistou alguns dos habitantes e comerciantes, e constatou que existe uma grande admiração por parte da população, quer a nível do funcionamento do mercado, o facto de não se pagar o aluguer do espaço. Estes frisaram ainda a diversidade de espaços verdes, a tranquilidade, a segurança e harmonia do espaço em redor e a fantástica cumplicidade entre todos os que vivem e visitam Góis.

Depois de uma boa refeição, visitámos o complexo Loural Village, onde ficámos a conhecer os princípios de sustentabilidade desta Eco-Village. Nesta aldeia pratica-se a permacultura, possuem uma Fito-Etar, realizam processos de compostagem, possuem plantações de variadíssimos alimentos e utilizam a energia solar, tudo de forma a minimizar os gastos e desperdícios da vila, exceptuando o facto de ser necessário o fornecimento de electricidade por parte da rede pública.

Ainda no decorrer da tarde, foi feita uma entrevista ao Vice-Presidente da Câmara Municipal de Góis, que conseguiu cativar os JRA respondendo a diversas questões que lhe foram colocadas, sempre mostrando um enorme carinho e preocupação com o município e também uma enorme ambição no que diz respeito ao crescimento económico e demográfico de Góis.

Opinião: Tendo em conta os sítios que tivemos a oportunidade de visitar e as pessoas com quem conversámos, consideramos que foi um dia bastante enriquecedor. Ficamos a conhecer os “4 cantos” desta pequena vila, sendo assim mais fácil procurar possíveis focos de interesse para reportagens

5 de abril

A cinco de abril de dois mil e dezassete, fomos recebidos pelo Sr. Humberto Garcia, pioneiro de criação de trutas, próximo do rio Sótão (afluente do rio Ceira). Este habitante inspirou-se num passeio que realizou à Serra da Estrela (Manteigas), onde a parir daí decidiu criar o seu próprio projeto. O entrevistado manifestou “não ser fácil”.

Para desfrutarmos da essência do Município de Góis dirigimo-nos à praia fluvial da Peneda onde nos deparámos com uma deslumbrante paisagem. Esta praia obedece aos 40 critérios necessários para a obtenção da Bandeira Azul. Obtivemos a informação de que esta bandeira é dificilmente obtida em praias fluviais, pois estas águas estão vulneráveis a despejos e a concentrações de poluentes que aumentam especialmente no verão devido ao caudal da água diminuir.

Durante a tarde visitámos a Quinta dos Maias, que nos foi apresentada pelo Biólogo José Abrantes, na qual observámos Espécies Arbóreas Autóctones.

Acabámos a tarde a visitar o artesão José Cerdeira, conhecido pelas suas máscaras de Cortiça alusivas ao “Entrudo”.

6 de abril

No passado dia 6 de abril de 2017, o dia foi iniciado com a visita ao Eco Museu Tradição do Xisto. Houve a necessidade de dividir o grupo em dois para uma maior facilidade no aproveitamento do espaço observado (núcleo sede e núcleo da interpretação ambiental).

O Museu foi construído em torno de duas vertentes, uma ambiental (Território Rede Natural 2000 da Serra da Lousã) e outra cultural (falar da antiga cultura da população e comunidade).

Visitámos o núcleo sede, constituído por espaços pequenos como a aldeia para não desvitalizar a escala desta, fazendo um reaproveitamento da mesma. Este espaço está dividido em 3 zonas: vivência dos serranos, projetos para interpretação das aldeias do xisto e a flora. No passado existiam 80 habitantes nesta zona, mas atualmente apenas 3 e tivemos a sorte de falar com um deles. O Sr. Manel, antigo professor e entendido de abelhas, faz parte de uma família muito conhecida na comunidade, os Claros. É natural de Aigra Velha tendo-se casado com uma habitante de Aigra Nova, onde vive atualmente.

Conhecemos o núcleo de Interpretação Ambiental que nos foi apresentado pelo Geólogo Luíz Lopes. Aqui tivemos a oportunidade de conhecer a flora e a fauna da Serra da Lousã.

Mais tarde dirigimo-nos ao Moto Clube de Góis, onde nos foi possível entrevistar o Campeão Nacional do Enduro, Diogo Ventura e observamos os trofeus do Moto Clube de Góis.

Para concluir o dia dirigimo-nos aos Penedos de Góis / Povoarais, a aldeia mais próxima da Crista da Peneda de Góis (feita de quartzito). Existe uma grande história por trás desta aldeia que conta a vida de uma família que encontrou fósseis, os quais não sabiam o que eram, apenas designados por figuras nas rochas, sendo mais tarde catalogados como fósseis de Bilobites e Trilobites pelo arqueólogo Nery Delgado. Infelizmente não nos foi possível visitar a casa onde estão expostos os fósseis preservados ao longo dos anos.

7 de abril

No dia 07 de abril de 2017 durante a manhã dirigimo-nos à Central Hidroelétrica de Monte Redondo em Góis. Aqui foi possível observar o seu funcionamento que perdura há 1 século. O Sr. David da Silva, funcionário há 6 anos, explicou-nos o seu mecanismo e funcionamento desde antigamente (fornecer energia a Góis) até agora (fornecer energia à EDP).

Mais tarde visitámos a Mina de Volfrâmio, que após um percurso acidentado, foi nos dado a conhecer a sua história pelo senhor Jorge Lucas.

Durante a tarde realizamos e melhoramos os trabalhos terminando o dia no Restaurante “Casa Ti Maria”.

4 de abril

Pontos fortes salientados pelo grupo:

Uma das atividades mais apreciadas pelo grupo foi a visita a Loural Village, uma antiga aldeia de xisto recuperada que funciona como turismo rural. O motivo, que levou a que esta atividade fosse uma das mais atrativas, foi o facto de a alimentação ser baseada em produtos cultivados nos campos da aldeia o que o torna numa vila sustentável, captando a atenção de qualquer visitante, pois não é muito comum haver tanta preocupação em cuidar da natureza. A existência de atividades como Yoga acaba por ajudar no sentido de atrair visitantes locais ou estrangeiros.

Outro ponto que quisemos focar como grupo, são as praias fluviais que ajudam a embelezar a Vila de Góis. É impressionante como as pessoas em conjunto com a Câmara Municipal e Juntas de Freguesia, preservam estes espaços. As águas transparentes revelam a pureza do espaço, os jardins que rodeiam o rio e todas as estruturas, como bancos de jardim, ajudam a complementar um espaço tão requisitado.

Para terminar, achámos por bem, falar das visitas guiadas por Góis, pois permitiram enriquecer o nosso conhecimento relativamente a monumentos, praças e outros lugares que ajudaram a escrever a história desta Vila. Para nós jovens, é uma forma de nos fazer refletir e aceitar que há outras formas de ver a vida e que o mais importante é sentirmo-nos bem no espaço em que vivemos.

Sugestões para melhorar a Vila de Góis

Daquilo que tivemos oportunidade de ver, achámos que a feira deveria ser uma prioridade do município, no sentido que este deveria ser expandido ou até construídas estruturas que permitam um espaço mais amplo, de forma, a que mais visitantes pudessem usufruir da mesma.

Pensamos que a ausência de jovens pode influenciar o crescimento de Góis tanto a nível económico, social e noutras áreas como a educação.

5 de abril

Pontos fortes salientados pelo grupo:

No dia de hoje, como grupo, chegámos à conclusão de que todo o processo teve os seus pontos positivos, ou seja, cada uma das atividades realizadas teve impacto em cada um de nós.

A visita ao Sr. Humberto, criador de trutas, foi uma forma de ficarmos a saber que ainda existem pessoas que independentemente da experiência ou falta dela, não devem ter medo de arriscar e seguir as suas intuições, principalmente quando se trata de desenvolver o local onde vivemos. Este homem levou a que o município tivesse interesse em apostar neste tipo de cultura.

A praia fluvial que visitámos hoje, permitiu que mais uma vez tivéssemos a certeza de que este município se preocupa com os espaços verdes e com as águas que tornam esses lugares mais refrescantes e atraentes, principalmente nas alturas balneares. Por outro lado, foi uma forma dos nossos fotógrafos abrirem os seus horizontes e focarem-se em cada pormenor da natureza. Foi uma oportunidade de trabalharmos o nosso lado de exploradores.

A Quinta dos Maias também teve aspetos a salientar, pois permitiu-nos conhecer todo o tipo de espécies que existem nesta área e muitas delas existem apenas naquele espaço; foi, para os nossos fotógrafos, mais uma vez, um ponto a focar para mais tarde mostrar a outras pessoas que a natureza e a floresta não é só mais um espaço.

A última atividade do dia, foi um “abre-olhos” no sentido em que devemos acreditar cada vez mais que a idade não é uma barreira. O Sr. José, homem de 83 anos, mostrou que nunca é tarde para apostarmos em novas áreas, aceitar novos desafios e revelou um enorme talento para artes manuais, através das suas máscaras de cortiça, que rapidamente se mostraram um sucesso junto de quem o visita. Achámos essencial referir esta atividade, pois mostra que poderemos reutilizar materiais de uma forma correta, criativa e rentável.

6 de abril

Pontos fortes salientados pelo grupo:

O Góis Moto Clube foi algo positivo referenciado pelo grupo devido à influência que tem na região tanto a nível económico como social, especialmente, com a concentração Motard que acontece em agosto e com o cartaz dos concertos que torna tudo mais apelativo e que atrai público Português e Internacional.

Outro ponto referenciado foi a visita À Aldeia de Povorais, pois estivemos a 900m de altitude e foi possível observar uma magnífica vista, que permitiu satisfazer a vontade do fotógrafo da natureza do nosso grupo deixando-o maravilhado.

A exposição no Núcleo de Interpretação Ambiental também foi positiva pois o ambiente era bastante calmo e tivemos a oportunidade de interagir de perto com dois burros.

Ao fim do dia, foi possível assistir aos ensaios da banda filarmónica da Associação Educativa e Recreativa de Góis dando assim para relaxar, após um longo e cansativo dia, proporcionando também algumas risotas por parte do grupo dos jovens repórteres para o ambiente devido a alguns sons feitos pela banda e seus estimados instrumentos. 

7 de abril

Pontos fortes a salientar pelo grupo:

Na Central Hidroelétrica foi possível relaxar ao som da queda de água e soltar algumas gargalhadas ao observar a nossa “adorada” guia autóctone a caminhar sobre uma ponte com más condições de forma bastante corajosa.

Com o trilho feito até há Mina de Volfrâmio foi possível obter uma vista esplêndida, apesar do percurso exigente, adorado por alguns.

Sugestões a melhorar:

Alguns elementos, terem achado o trilho algo perigoso devido à inexistência de segurança e por alguns elementos do grupo sofrerem de vertigens,

Também foi pena não ter sido possível a captação de fotos no interior da Central Hidroelétrica e as suas máquinas.

6:27 – I just woke up … that´s really great.

6:32 – I´m considering myself that I´m gonna fall asleep again

7:30 – Knowledge that I was wrong is very painfull

7:38 – I discovered that the main door was locked, so I am pretending that I was going to the toilet so I don´t gonna look like an idiot in front of everyone. NOTE -> I don´t know why I did it, because no one could saw me, beacouse THEY WERE SLEEPING.

7:39 – Going back to the bed.

8:15 – FINALLY – Some girls are up, and even Adrika.

8:20 – I am going out to make vlog intro for day three. NOTE ->  The sun is pretty high so NO shots of sunrise, maybe next day.

20:05 – Me and Demetris are talking to the kind of-crazy Italian guy, and he is telling us how to make a real pasta and he told us that italian food is the art. Perfetto.

20:36 – We are in our room, and its really great, there are beds, and one window, and even electricity plug in. It is good to know I am gonna sleep in some place which I can really name room.

Nutella day

8:00 – Oh, I get up at normal time, it is really good and I´m feeling pretty fine after the last evening shower.

8:13 – Me and Mario have a problem, Demetris and Gianmarco are not getting up. I am thiking that the best way to wake them up is to try to say something in hebrew language (Guy language). NOTE -> I said something like “Chabre Chabre”, it doesn´t work.

8:30 – We are going for breakfast, everybody is crazy because there is a NUTELLA! So … you are probably thinking that I have nutella, but I didn´t. Shocking right?!

9:43 – We are in the area of the fish pond and there is an old man telling us something about it. The kind of problem is that I can´t understand the damm thing because he is speaking portuguese.

9:46 – Oh the Sofia told me he has builded this place, it´s amazing.

12:50 – I am in the room, looking out of the window and I did saw the orange tree. IT IS REALLY NICE. In Slovakia we only have just boring trees like apple tree, pear tree, cherry tree.

12:55 – Mario stepped to the room, and I have told him my fellings about the tree. He just looked at me, jump from the window and grab some oranges for me. It was really something, it was my first orange right from the tree.

13:31 – I am just laying down on my bad, and I am absolutely sure that I am not gonna fall asleep. NOTE ->  Mario thinks it too. We are leaving at the 14:00

07:00 We woke up with Sophie`s alarm and I questioned life. I asked myself that on I really obliged to wake up so early.

08:15 I just get out of bed but I didn`t wake up mentally. I get sick of getting up so early.

08:30 BREAKFAST TIME… Somebody finished Nutella but there are still chocolate milks existing and it makes me calm.

09:00 We are waiting for the buses arrive.

09:15 We are still waiting….

09:30 IT FINALLY ARRIVED…

10:10 We are at Eco-Museum. It is so similar with the Góis because there are lots of green places. A lady is giving information to us but in Portuguese. And us (poor foreigners) are understanding nothing… Sophie and Carolina are translating for us but I want people to speak English while they are giving information.

10:50 We are wondering around with our group, an old man is giving information about the museum. I am showing my musician talent and I am playing accordion. I totally played very well(!)

11:40 It is time for shopping. I bought something as well such as everybody.

12.30 we are turning back for lunch. I am so afraid of Merve to eat me .That`s why it is going to be awesome to eat something.

13:00 LUNCH TIME…

“Bacalhau à Brás” I think it was the best meal I have ever tasted in here.

13:40 I need to get some sleep, Merve needs as well. Merve and I are getting some rest in the room. We still have some time.

14:10 We didn`t have time to sleep L they said that bus has arrived. But it WASN`T…

14:35 Bus arrived. I hope we are going to somewhere away from here. I need to get rest.

14:45 We arrived to “MOTO-CLUB” And of course they are talking in Portuguese. I am trying to understand the shapes on the floor …

15:35 We came to some place similar with a village. Guy is walking on rock and there are lots of fossil in them.

16:00 We are wondering around. There are lots of insect and sunlight which love me so much that they don`t stop following me even a second.

17:00 We came back. We have a free time for 1 hour. And we are planning to get some sleep with Merve.

20:00 OH MY GOD!!! We are sleeping for 3 hours instead of 1 hour. We lost the group work. My friends are going to kill me!!!

I have my own salad and I am so happy for this. Also I have excellent group friends. They didn’t get mad at me. I love them..
