Estima-se que cerca de 90% dos 9 milhões de toneladas de plástico produzidos e que a cada ano são lançado nos oceanos, têm origem em dez rios, sendo que desses oito são asiáticos e dois africanos. Se é verdade que os rios europeus e, naturalmente aqueles que desaguam em território português não estão na “lista negra” dos que concorrem para o flagelo do lixo marinho e dos plásticos nos oceanos, a imagem retrata aquela que é a realidade das margens do rio Tejo, em algumas partes do seu troço e que urge corrigir.
