Galhas ou verrugas! | ‘Warts’

Já deve ter visto nalgumas folhas várias ‘verrugas’ de formado curioso! Pois bem, estas ‘verrugas’ na verdade tem um nome próprio: galhas. As galhas são modificações foliares induzidas nas plantas por muitos grupos de invertebrados como helmintos, moscas, vespas e até mesmo por bactérias e fungos. Diferentemente da relação simbiótica entre raízes de plantas e fungos, em que ambos são beneficiados, essa associação entre a planta e o organismo galhador não traz benefícios para o vegetal. Porém, o galhador garante a proteção e nutrição de seus ovos, permitindo o seu sucesso reprodutivo e dispersão.

Galls are leaf modifications induced in plants by many invertebrate groups such as helminths, flies, wasps and even by bacteria and fungi. However, the canker ensures the protection and nutrition of your eggs, allowing for their reproductive success and dispersal.
