The village of Tarrastal is a 900 year old hidden gem within the municipality of Góis which has not housed more than 50 habitants since 1911. Today there are no permanent habitants. “The villages are alone without nobody”, said Lucas, a founding member of development programs in the region.

The Last Barrier: Discovering Condominiums Project
In the past few years, wildfires have been a detrimental problem for the municipality of Góis. In order to resolve such a matter, human aid and environmental projects are essential. An example of this is the Condomínio de Aldeias, a state funded complex environmental project operating in 13 out of 102 villages in Góis aiming to protect them from the unstoppable wildfires. But why 13 in particular?
